It's like a line of dominoes that just keep falling--Heidi Montag, Kate Hudson, Jaime Pressly, and now Nicole Kidman? True story: On a cruise in the Caribbean 5 years ago, the hubs and I were paired up for dinner every night with a couple from New York. He was a state legislator, she was a beautiful, and quite busty (a detail I include only because it's part of the story, below) aspiring actress, who told us a story about Ms. Kidman.
In a minor role she had years ago in a film, this woman we met said that Nicole Kidman requested that she be removed from the film because she was worried her breasts might overshadow her own in a particular scene. A tall tale? Maybe, but now that it's being reported that Nicole Kidman has gotten breast implants, the story does come full circle.
Yes, actresses are paid to look beautiful. Yes, this kind of thing has been going on in Hollywood for eons. But, if the reports are true about Nicole, it still makes me a little sad (in the same way I felt sad when Meg Ryan had all that work done--remember that?). I'd love to see more women in Hollywood speak out against the quest for body perfection and stand up for aging gracefully--without the scalpel.
